How Does Diode Work In Circuit

A diode is a semiconductor device that allows current to flow in only one direction. It is made of a semiconductor material, such as silicon, that has been doped with impurities to create a region of positive charge (the P-type region) and a region of negative charge (the N-type region). The P-N junction is the boundary between the P-type and N-type regions.

When a diode is forward biased, the positive terminal of the voltage source is connected to the P-type region and the negative terminal is connected to the N-type region. This causes electrons to flow from the N-type region to the P-type region, creating a current.

When a diode is reverse biased, the positive terminal of the voltage source is connected to the N-type region and the negative terminal is connected to the P-type region. This causes the P-N junction to become reverse biased, which prevents current from flowing.

Diodes are used in a variety of electronic circuits, including rectifiers, amplifiers, and oscillators. They are also used in power supplies, flashlights, and radios.
